![]() There’s also a gallery of artwork and a cinema mode for the FMV cutscenes. The highest reward for finding all the coins are additional missions in a white “VR“ environment, which just throws the most insane combat and platforming challenges at you. The final playable character, the legendary Joe Musashi, doesn’t suffer from a cursed blade and thus playing as him the game is much more forgiving – though you can only get him after finishing most of the game with Hotsuma before. ![]() The older sibling is stronger than Hotsuma, but his life is drained even more quickly. If you’re actually skilled enough to play through the game multiple times to find the hidden bonus coins, and on harder difficulty levels, you can unlock Hotsuma’s brother (and nemesis) Moritsune as a playable character. While Shinobi was released first in America, the later released Japanese and European editions included an easy difficulty setting, although it doesn’t make too much of a difference. He is one of the most infuriating final bosses in history, and if you can kill him, hats off to you. Later on you fight a blind ninja in a pool of water – stay off the ground or he’ll slash you to bits – and a gigantic four-armed statue that shoots lightning bolts and will happily pound you into submission if you’re not careful.īut worst of all is the final boss, Hiroko, who floats in the air out of your reach, and floods the playing field with so many difficult enemies that it’s nearly impossible to get a tate combo to beat him. In an allusion to the original game, one of the first bosses is a helicopter. The bosses, like the rest of the game, start off simple but quickly ramp up in difficulty. Also, since Hotsuma is wielding a cursed blade named Akujiki, it slowly sucks life away from him unless he’s constantly killing enemies, so dawdling will result in a sad, pathetic death. You do have unlimited lives, and the game is generous enough to let you restart at the beginning of boss battles, but it’s still incredibly tough. Additionally, there are no midlevel checkpoints either, so dying means starting each level – some of which are approximately 10 minutes long – from scratch. You’re also expected to make some pretty crazy platforming maneuvers in the later levels, and one mistaken button press will send you falling to your doom. The first two stages are a breeze – then things go awry when you face enemies that block frontal attacks, most notably some damn ninja dogs. Not just “kind of“ difficult, or “really“ difficult, but rather “face punchingly“ difficult. ![]() It’s necessary to form huge combos in order to bring down many of the bosses, but it’s also fun to do because it looks badass – kill all of the enemies in the area quickly enough, and you’re granted a short cutscene of Hotsuma posing before all of them, in a frozen state of death, falling apart and collapsing in a mess of blood and otherworldly goo. If you kill enemies quickly and build up combos, your sword gradually becomes more powerful. One of the most important elements to your victory is learning how to “ tate“ (pronounced in Japanese like “tah-tay“, not “tate“ like “taters“). Getting the hang of the controls takes awhile – you have to constantly use both analog sticks, the shoulder buttons to lock-on, and other buttons to dash, jump and attack, but once you get into the rhythm, simply playing the game is like an acrobatic ballet for your fingers. A handy lock-on maneuver makes it easy to spot any oncoming foes, although it’s sometimes too easy to misdirect your jumps when you’ve targeted an enemy, usually ending with a drop into a pit. ![]() Although you’ll do most of your fighting with a sword, you have a small arsenal of shurikens to stun enemies, and some ninja magic to use when needed. There’s a variety of standard ninja moves at your disposal, including the traditional double jump, although you now have the ability to grab onto almost any wall and run across it, completely giving the middle finger to that nonsense theory of gravity. This one of the smoothest controlling 3D games ever made – Hotsuma runs, jumps, and attacks swiftly and gracefully, making the mere act of moving around an absolute joy. There is plenty of time wasted on the plot – something about evil denizens coming from another world – and there’s some brotherly dramatics regarding Hotsuma’s sibling Moritsune, but it all just gets in the way of the action.Īnd it’s some damn good action. Developed by Overworks, it stars a new ninja named Hotsuma, who has a wickedly cool mask and a fancy red scarf that drifts in the wind as you run. Shinobi, devoid of any numerals or subtitles, finally hit the third dimension with a PlayStation 2 release.

The real problem (and it's to be expected) is the stock speaker. Getting a good tone out of this amp is not difficult. On the back the amp has headphone and line outs as well as an external speaker output for running into a speaker cabinet of your choice (8 ohms). There's also an onboard boost switch, as well as onboard tremolo! How cool is that? The Pathfinder 15R also features a built in reverb. It features gain, volume, treble and bass controls to adjust your core tone. The VOX Pathfinder 15R is a small solid state 15 watt 1x8 combo amplifier that is a single channel affair, built in the general style of the older VOX amps. A nice amp for your buck but not a pro’s amp. If you can get a used one it’ll be even cheaper as you can probably find them online too. The price will make it accessible to most guitarists starting up. The Vox Pathfinder Series Pathfinder 15R is a dirt cheap amplifier! If you don’t want to spend very much but still want a name brand amplifier with a effects and a decent sounding, the Pathfinder 15R isn’t a bad choice at all. I wouldn’t recommend it for recording and we didn’t use it after trying it mostly because better sounding options were available. The effects are nice as the tremolo is pretty decent and so is the spring reverb. Still, the Pathfinder 15R isn’t a bad sounding amp and would be perfect for practicing at home or shows in a really small venue. Don’t expect to get that full classic Vox sound from this as you’re going to have the spring for an AC15 or AC30 to get that sort of sound. The sound of the Vox Pathfinder Series Pathfinder 15R isn’t anything to write home about but it’s still a decent little amp for the price. That’s all there is to using the amplifier so I don’t think that users will need a manual. Included on the control panel are knobs for gain, volume, treble, bass, tremolo speed, tremolo depth, and reverb. The configuration of the Vox Pathfinder Series Pathfinder 15R is fairly basic to follow. It’s got ¼” connections for input and a foot switch on the front panel. There are a bunch of amps in the Pathfinder Series but this is the only one that I’ve used to date. I used it at a studio but didn’t we end up using it on the track. It also has built in tremolo and reverb effects. ![]() The name obviously lets you know that it’s got 15 watts of power. It’s a very small amp, although I don’t remember the speaker size. The Vox Pathfinder Series Pathfinder 15R is a small combination amp for electric guitar. ![]() For cannabis aficionados, the delivery of superior flavor is essential for enjoying the vaping experience. Whether metal is completely safe, completely dangerous, or somewhere in between is unclear even some high-end cannabis vapes use metal heating elements so they can obtain precise temperatures.Īnother disadvantage of metal heating elements is that they easily produce a burnt or metallic taste, which can negatively affect the flavor and aroma of cannabis strains. Inhalation of these particles can damage the respiratory organs and lead to health issues. Some metal heating elements may pollute vapor with metal particles in heating. However, metal heating elements probably pose the risk of metal precipitation. Metal heating elements conduct heat quickly, so they vaporize cannabis extract quickly and adapt well to temperature changes. Let’s examine each vape heating element separately and consider what’s important from a vape user’s perspective. The most common heating elements in cannabis vape are made of metal, glass, and ceramic. What are the advantages and disadvantages of different vape heating elements? Let’s take a look at the most common types of heating elements used in cannabis vapes and how they compare to each other. Inhalation of these unhealthy substances can cause truly harmful effects in addition to affecting the senses of taste and smell.Īs we will discuss in the next part, different heating element materials produce and conduct heat in different ways. Just as our bodies absorb effective plant compounds, byproducts of certain metals or materials used in vape heating elements can also separate and enter the vapor. The type of heating element in a vaporizer greatly affects the way vapor is absorbed into the human body and how enjoyable the vaping experience is.Ĭhoosing the right vape heating element is so important since some materials are dangerous in vaporization. What role does the heating element play in my cannabis vape? Next we’ll take a deeper look at how different heating methods and elements affect the vaping experience. The type of heating method used in a vaporizer can greatly affect the potency of the cannabis and its flavor and fragrance. Rather than burning, cannabis vapes heat liquid, wax, or even dried herbs to release vapor, and vape users inhale the vapor without causing any harm to their lungs or throat. However, the more we learn about cannabis, the more we realize the importance of cannabis vaporization. More specifically, when vapors burn tobacco, marijuana, or hemp to release the active ingredient during traditional smoking, whether it’s nicotine, CBD or THC, they inhale the smoke. Vaporization continues to be popular among cannabis users because it provides all the benefits of vaping weed without the negative byproducts of inhaling smoke and toxins. Our bodies absorb the cannabinoids and terpenes through the vapor in our lungs. Heating these compounds causes them to separate and form a vapor that can be inhaled. ![]() The cannabis compounds in the bud or concentrate include cannabinoids (which are the good stuff like THC, CBD, etc.) and terpenes (terpenes are natural plant oils that give cannabis strains their flavor, aroma, and enhancement). The heating element then carries the heat and quickly disperses it into cannabis vaporizers, activating further the cannabis buds or concentrates. The heating element of a cannabis vape is usually a coil of material that is connected to a power source that generates heat. What is the heating element of a cannabis vape? Why does cannabis vape prefer the ceramic heating element?Īre ceramic heating elements safe for cannabis vaporization? What are the advantages and disadvantages of different vape heating elements?Ĭan metal, glass, or ceramic heating elements leave a “burnt” taste? What is the heating element of a cannabis vape?.This article will explain the importance of heating elements, exploring their different types, and answering the most frequently asked questions about vape heating elements. But when one buys a vaporizer, health considerations may also come into play. ![]() A major requirement of all heating elements is precision – you want the vaporizer to actually be at the temperature you set it at. ![]() It regulates the temperature of the air and catalyzes the active ingredients as hot air passes through the precious extract. The most integral part of the cannabis vaporizer is the heating element, which directly determines the user’s taste experience. ![]() Join us again soon for more 6 Minute Grammar. There's more about this on our website at. OK, thank you very much, and there we are: the passive voice is made with an object, plus the verb to be, plus the past participle.Īnd we use it when we're more interested in the object of a verb, or if the subject is unknown or obvious. If you hit your colleagues for a non-grammatical reason, Finn, you will get into trouble. And if you hit your colleagues, Catherine? Your bike will get stolen if you don't lock it! You may hear people use the verb get instead of the verb be, like this: Now, here's a tip for using the passive voice in spoken English. William posted a photo of his birthday party on his webpage.Ī photo of William's birthday party was posted by him on his webpage.Īnd option a) sounds much better - because William is most definitely the subject of this sentence! The burglars were arrested and taken to the police station.Īnd the passive in option b) is best - we can guess that the police arrested the burglars, so we don't need to mention them. The police arrested the burglars and took them to the police station. Well, they are grammatically correct, but the active sentence a) is the best - if you agree that the name and age of the climber is more important than the name of the mountain she climbed! Mount Kilimanjaro has been climbed by an 85-year-old, Mary Hiker. Which of these news headlines sounds better: is it a):Ĩ5-year-old Mary Hiker has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. When the thing receiving the action of the verb is important, you can show this importance, by putting it at the start of the sentence, and using the verb to be plus the past participle of the verb to make a passive form.Īnd if the person or thing doing the verb is obvious, unimportant or unknown, you can leave it out. You're listening to .Īnd we're talking about active and passive voice. Here, the subject - the storm - is important, so we don't leave it out. Let's have another sentence in active voice: That's right - if you don't know who or what is doing the verb, or if it's not important, or if it's obvious, you can leave it out completely, like this: ![]() Yes - and we don't know who rescued the child, so we don't need to say by somebody. Right, in many situations, the passive sentence the child was rescued would sound more natural than somebody rescued the child - now, that's if we feel the child is more important than the rescuer. And now that Catherine has stopped hitting me, we can look at that last pair of sentences more closely. The internet is used by millions of people. First an active sentence:Īnd with the receiver of the verb at the beginning of the sentence – in the passive voice. So here's Rob with some examples of active and passive sentences. We put the receiver of the verb at the beginning of the sentence, plus the verb to be and the past participle, to make a passive sentence: Finn was hit by Catherine. Let's say it this way: Finn was hit by Catherine. But of course I'm more important than you Catherine, so I want to be at the beginning of the sentence. So, speaking grammatically, the subject – that's me – performs or does the action…Īnd the object of the verb – that’s me - receives or gets the action. And in the active voice we say Catherine hit Finn: subject - verb - object. And the reason is, we're talking about active and passive voice today. I wouldn't hit you without a good reason. I hope there's a grammatical reason for that!Īlways, Finn. And in today's programme we're talking about… Oww! You hit me! Catherine! That hurt! Learning to transform passive voice into active voice can be even trickier. Make a board game with one thing that can be described with passive voice in each square, e.g. Writers need to be intentional about voice in order to ensure clarity. Specifically, APA explains that voice shows relationships between the verb and the subject and/or object (see APA 7, Section 4.13). Learning to distinguish between active and passive voice is tricky. Active voice and passive voice are grammatical constructions that communicate certain information about an action. When using passive voice is appropriate.Advantages of using active voice in journalism.Make sense? Journalists should write in active voice, not passive voice. Therefore, whenever possible, it’s best to write sentences where subjects are doing things - not receiving the actions upon them. As readers, we find activity interesting, direct, and clear. The appearance, however, will never offer more than a visual treat. From woods, to rosette and unique finishing touches, each guitar can look as unique as it sounds. The classical guitar, however, is still a playground of innovation and experimentation. The violin, the piano and cello, all have a design that has been set for quite some time. The song found a natural audience: the US was escalating its involvement in the Vietnam War, and, domestically, there was still a considerable exodus from the south as African-Americans sought work and liberation in northern cities such as Chicago and Motown’s hometown, Detroit.
