The finish might be able to tell you something but BCR made did a ton of finishes that aren't in the catalog like champagne sparkle, gold, yellow, blue, purple, green. ![]() Here's some bad screenshots of the catalog: There's only a couple of days left before the auction finishes and I'm in love. I can't try the bass out before I buy it. Now comes the problem, it's in America, I'm in the UK. Mahogany body, Maple/Ebony neck, absolute perfection. Legend has it they were fantastic quality guitars which went through a phase of having BC Rico on the headstock, later to become BC Rich (it's the logo saying Rico or Rich down the headstock). It's a B.C.Rich Mockingbird bass, NJ Series, Active electronics (dual-P pickups) and a natural quilted Maple top. BC Rich NJ Eagle bass 1984 Black Gene’s gear Reverb. Rich NJ Series Eagle Bass Black MIJ Minty Amazing Reverb. It was a bolt-on, MIJ, bright white and a lot of fun to play. I had the opportunity to play an 80s NJ Warlock and I loved it. There's about 4 different types of guitar called an NJ Mockingbird - some are neck-thru, others are bolt-on, some have kahlers and some have tune o matics, some have rosewood and some have ebony.įrom what i've learned they were made in Japan and had Gotoh hardware (what you find on ESP guitars), occasionally DiMarzio humbuckers were stock but mostly they're Gotoh-made humbuckers and are the general nasally 80s high-output things that people were doing back then. BCR seemed to have a lot of guitars in the NJ series with very similar names. Nobody can touch Ibanez in something like simple black or metallic blue MIJ RG for $1,199 dollars street including three DiMarzio pickups and Original Edge tremolo. Some of them were tremendous. But for anything under $1,200 dollars with great pickups and hardware, I would still go with Ibanez because of the necks and fretwork which are second to none. Here we have a rare vintage 1980 BC Rich Son of a Rich Bass guitar. This guitar is a solid player and has character from the hundreds of nights it has belted out the low end.The finish is original and the neck is from the era when Charvel was. They are comparable to similar Washburn, Yamaha, Jackson, Charvel, or LTD guitars. 1980 Fender Bullet Bass Deluxe B-34 - Includes Original Hardshell Case. Overall USA (used) and NJ BC Rich guitars are the ones I would look at. The beginner ones are the ultra budget Bronze Series. Platinum Series is budget model and only fixed bridge ones are usable and locking trem ones are not all that good for tuning stability. It's very doable and I would put in full Duncan Blackouts or EMG 81/60 or Hetfield set and make it a keeper. The newer ones, like I saw on GC today is MIK, 499 dollars street, has MIK Floyd Rose Original and Duncan Designed active humbuckers. They are akin to our Standard Series and Iron Label guitars in terms of mojo. Next up are MIJ NJ Series which usually have BC Rich pickups, and Floyd licensed trems and are generally good enough for professional work. Click to expand.Top of line are USA made and mine was 100% percent koa, had Grover tuners and a single DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup with top of the line Kahler 2300 trem.
